Hand Held Products partners with RMS-Touch to provide enhanced kiosk functionality

Hand Held Products™ Partners with RMS-Touch
New York, N.Y. and Skaneateles Falls, N.Y. – January 16, 2006 – Hand Held Products, Inc., a leader in image-based data collection systems for the retail industry, and RMS-Touch, a provider of self-service kiosk applications, announced today a partnership enabling the deployment of the RMS-Kiosk™ suite of customer self-service applications onto Hand Held Products’ Image Kiosk™ 8560.
The partnership will allow retailers using the Image Kiosk 8560 to offer a robust set of functionalities, including price checking, item locator, loyalty card administration and a deli pre-ordering system. The RMS-Kiosk application can estimate wait time and even send SMS messages to customers’ cell phones when their orders are ready.

RMS-Kiosk provides retailers with intuitive kiosk applications that allow the customer to take control of their shopping experience,” said Richard Adler, president of RMS-Touch. “We see huge value for the retailer in the ability to offer such high functionality in a device that requires very little floor space. Hand Held Products’ knowledge of the retail market combined with their industry-leading mini-kiosk offering made them a logical partner for us.”
The Image Kiosk 8560, powered by Adaptus™ Imaging Technology 5.0 and the Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 operating system, provides customers with access to a wealth of information through finger-touch navigation and omni-directional bar code reading – each giving customers the ability to find the information they need within seconds.
